Horsetail Falls

Horsetail Falls in the Columbia River Gorge during the recent cold snap. This gorge always transforms in the most amazing ways during such weather and I was afraid we were going to miss the opportunity this year as it takes about three good days of sub-30 degree weather to pull this off. Lo and behold things froze up last week, probably for the only time until next Winter. It also corresponded quite nicely with my one day off that week, so in spite of the dozen other things I needed to get done, we drove out to the Gorge for a few hours to bask in the icy wonderland. I had just received a pair of Yaktrax for Christmas, so with those strapped on these icy rocks were much easier to navigate.
