Summer's End
Grant with his feathered charges. For the moment, in addition to Strawberry as our main rooster, four month-old Tinypeep has been renamed Angus McDougal (so renamed by my husband). The young cockerel seems happy, for the most part, to keep an eye on the Independence Day peeps, hatchmate Silver, and whichever other hens happen to be hanging out near the coop and run. Grant wanders between the different groups, and everyone seems safe and happy for the moment.
Splash and Derby, the other four month-olds, have been given to folks with flocks in need of roosters. It was particularly difficult to send Derby along, since he was the first animal born here, but he has his own harem of hens now, and is no doubt quite happy. ;)
