El Tigre
CAPTIVE
Jaguars are the largest of the American cats and are the only one considered a "big" cat, on the order of lions and tigers. On average, they are about seven feet long and two feet high at the shoulder; they weight about 300 pounds.
Although they are respected and feared by humans, attacks on humans are rare.
The name "Jaguar" comes from the Guaraní "Yaguara", which means "he who kills with one leap."
