The Bernese foothills

A parting shot of Wengen, taken from the train which a few minutes earlier had left the town’s station for a journey up to the Jungfrau. This view from afar helps you appreciate the resort town’s dramatic setting, on a hill overlooking the Lauterbrunnen Valley, right in the heart of the Bernese Alps, above the clouds and all. With the clouds at such a low altitude, one imagines that the residents of Wengen (about 1,300 year-round inhabitants) have to put up with fog a lot. Taken on 3 October 2013.
