This is the end

As the waves hit these blocks of ice, you can hear the crackling sound of them breaking. This is how their journey ends, from europe's largest glacier Vatnajökull into the Atlantic ocean.

 

 

This was taken an evening before my last photo. It was high tide and waves were reaching up to the point where there were most amount of ice blocks. It was very difficult to create composition without cluttering the scene too much. This block looked very interesting, kind of a like a skull. So i made it a focal point of my shot and Incoming waves did rest of the work.

 

 

I would have clicked more photos after this, but as i was setting up for next shot a surprise big wave came. I tried to move back but tripped over one ice block. I had icy cold water and sand in my boots and pants. It was time to head back to hotel and have some hot chocolate :).
