Bas reliefs on the wall
Walls of the temple's enclosure in Preah Khan ornamented with intricate bas reliefs of Devata, pseudo windows with balusters, arched niches removed of Buddhist images, and dead tree roots.
Some argue that Preah Khan may have been constructed experimentally as a gated community protected by moats, and intended as a steppingstone to plan much larger urban development of Angkor Thom.
Residences were built inside of the moat with perishable materials like woods; hence nothing remains to this day except for the stone-built architectures.
