Back to Vietnam

It took only a few hours to get to a Vietnam border from Senmonorom. This photo was taken in Lộc Ninh, a small town nearest to the Trapeang Sre Snuol / Hoa Lu border.

The food in the photo is phở, a Vietnamese rice noodle soup.

The Cambodia - Vietnam border is a cultural boundary between the Indian influenced region vs. the Chinese influenced. It is the boundary between the region where the food is eaten with right hand vs. with chopsticks.

A lodge staff in Senmonorom who arranged me a minibus asked me which border I liked Trapeang Pre Snuol / Hoa Lu or Trappeang Plong / Xa Mat. Since she said the former was closer and cheaper, I chose the former, which turned out to be a mistake.

The Trapean Sre Snuol / Hoa Lu border was newly built for cargo trucks, and there was no service for tourists such as money changer, transportation, mobile phone/internet etc.

An hour after finishing the immigration procedure when I was deciding to walk to a nearest town, a motor bike came in, which took me here after a price negotiation.

If I chose another border, Tay Ninh City was only 43 km away, probably one hour by bus. It took me a few hours to travel by bus from Loc Ninh to Tay Ninh that was the last destination of this trip.
