NSW Police City 35

I don't normally post Police vehicle photos. But here in Sydney things are so different (compared to the US) I thought it was interesting. The pure variety in the type of vehicles in use by the NSW Police Department is fascinating.

In California we are used to seeing a bunch of cruisers built (normally) on a Crown Vic, and the odd SUV for a Supervisor etc... and a very very rare special vehicle for some special purpose.

In Australia the first difference is there is only a State Police Force, no City, County, University, College, Transit, Reservation Police Forces.. one Police Department serves the entire State.

Second, not every vehicle has a big engine and is setup for pursuit. There are "Paddy Wagons" which handle most of the transport of anyone in custody, small vehicles with small engines for routine driving around, vans, small busses, trucks and more...

So given the large variety here I thought I'd throw a few Police vehicles into the mix, in case anyone finds it interesting. If not, I'll be back in California mid August and will start collecting more Fire Department shots, hang in there.

Which leads us to this vehicle, just a regular sedan, City 35 - the sedan is a Holden Commodore, Holden is the locally run GM brand.

In this shot he's parked on the wrong side of the road (by Australian standards) as he was just giving another patrol car a jump start. If you look closely you'll see the steering wheel right by the driver there on the right of the vehicle, and the cars parked on the correct side of the road in the background are on the left as is the usual way here in Australia.
