It will never look like this again. I don't rememeber how thick that refractory is (loooks like concrete but it is not), but we learned to do refractory repairs also. The refractory is for heat protection of the metal framework and walls. The four square holes are for the incoming feed chutes that the wood fuel will drop into the combustor from the metering bins. You can also see the bed floor, the air nozzles are not in yet.
