Sara's flower
Pink gerbera. There is a really sad story behind this painting. A lovely, young work colleague - who I had been lucky enough to get to know more and more over the past year, was diagnosed with stomach cancer around ten weeks ago. Two weeks ago I attended her funeral, myself and all the other colleagues and friends who attended from our work place all wore pink gerbera button-holes. She had requested bright colours, especially pink, at her service. Now my idea here is to produce a batch of simple, small charms to sell, then I can give the money raised to a good cause. At the moment I am thinking the hospice that cared for her in her final days. School is planning a memorial garden, which the children would love, so maybe I could chip in with some plants for that too. I'll just have to see what my colleagues think. Watch this space!
