APERTURE: NIMBUS

by APERTURE X & THE CULINARY ADVENTURER

[乌云系列]

A seasonal essay.

The series is taken at an old quarter called "Zhang Gardens" [张园] just behind my apartment. The area was built in the 1920s and houses many old traditional buildings from the days.

Shanghai is perpetually shrouded in mist, rain, fog or smog or, not surprisingly, usually all the above. The city is always monochrome. Grey. White. Bluish. Cyan.

I have decided that instead of of waiting for beauty to surface from ugly....why not turn ugly into beauty? The photos are photoshopped - exaggerated from distorted darkened shots I have taken. I was quite happy with the effects I wanted to achieve...Shanghai with pixie tinges of despair, desolute and disdain.
