黄花菜炒培根 (Lilybuds Stir-Fried With Bacon)

Dinner @ '锦上鱼府' (Peninsula Seafood) in Qingdao.

Lilybuds [Hemerocallis citrina Baroni] is a common vegetable in the Chinese culinary world although, I must confess I have never seen it cooked in its most raw form - as buds freshly picked!

Cooked with bacon, the lilybuds absorbed the robust smoky meaty goodness of the protein utterly. Add the natural crunchiness of the buds - This dish was absolutely irresistible and undeniably moreish. It was picked clean, leaving only a white plate.
