It looked really good when the fresh ingredients were displayed but unfortunately, in the cooked form, it was disappointing.
It was the first time I had Toona buds (other Chinese names: '刺椿头' and '树头菜') which is a spring specialty. But unfortunately, they robbed the freshness of both eggs and scallops. The Toona buds had a slightly disagreeable earthy mustiness and medicinal-herbal heaviness to them. They also finish mild bitter. I found the tastes of the dish clashing with each other.
It was the only dish left unfinished at the end of the meal.
