蒸饺 (Steamed Bun)

Dinner @ Laozhuanchun Shandong Restaurant (老转村山东菜馆).

 

Steam buns are staple up north....but I was a little bit taken aback by how plain the fillings can be, with this great affinity to use tofu as a filling ingredient....considering how savoury other Shandong dishes have been.

 

I believe the fillings are supposed to contain scallops and I did bite into bits here and then, but fresh scallops are rather plain and despite the presence of spring onions, the tofu simply watered the taste down.

 

My only comments: Suitable for "Health 'Nuts', 'Aquatarians' or folks just keen to stuff themselves.
