阳关三叠 (Golden Three Layers)

Lunch @ The Queli Hotel (曲阜阙里宾舍酒店) in Qufu, to try some of the dishes from the famous "Kong Family dishes" (孔家菜).

 

The dish looked spectacular. Made by layering sheets of egg, minced pork, spinach and tofu skin, the amber yellow colour stands up starkingly. Unfortunately, it was rather flat on taste. I would have added a dollop or two of chilli sauce or something. It shouldn't be this bland, yet it was. My mate and myself did finish it but I left the restaurant with a sense of unsated emptiness, as if my taste buds had left something behind.
