Dal (Lentil Soup)

Nope, not a teeny weeny smidgen of Chinese in this - this is in fact, a Nepalese meal in Shanghai @ "The Nepali Kitchen".

 

I am never a fan of legumes. They are plenty alright but I am just not a fan.

 

As Dal soup goes, I thought this version was a tad too watery and light on taste. There was none of that phenolic, beany and nutty tastes that lentils impart. In fact, if not for the fact that it should be Dal by elimination, I wouldn't had guess it correct.

 

Then again, no great loss for myself.
