沂蒙老土炒鸡 (Yi Meng Style Stir-Fried Chicken)
Dinner @ '聚丰德' (Jufengde) in Jinan, a renounced chain of restaurant serving Shandong cuisine.
I could have sworned this was stir-fried curry chicken. No, not the coconut milk but the spices! But yet from recipes found on the net, this was chicken stir-fried with a complex of spices (common ones like fennel, celery seeds, Sichuan peppers, cinnamon/cassia etc) as well as ethnic spices such as Amomum etc.
This was the second time I have detected curry tastes in Chinese dishes containing no added curry powders. There must be something in the mix of spices that mimic the curry characters.
