Fried Pork Chop With Fermented Wine Lees (酒糟豬排/酒糟猪排)

Dinner @ "微風台北車站美食街" (Taipei Train Station Subway Station Food Street) and a try of the flavours from Matsu Islands with "四鄉五島".

Matsu Islands is a group of islands near the Chinese province of Fujian but are under Taiwan's control. This franchised chain of eateries specialises in flavours from the islands.

Here, the standard fried pork chop is marinated with reddish fermented wine lees and the pork chop pieces took on a sweet, fermented and almost fruity aroma and taste, which wasn't all too bad a twist at all. The sweetness helped to mask the greasiness of the oil as well.
