Steamed Rice Cake With Fried Shallots (蔥油糕/葱油糕)

Snacking in Jiufen (九份) in Taiwan.

 

One of Taiwan's many many side dishes - this is basically rice flour steamed with dried shrimps, lard and minced pork, served with lots of fried shallots, along side soy sauce condiment. It reminds me of the steamed carrot cake (the savoury kind) in Singapore!
