清炒莴笋 (Stir-Fry Celtuce)

Lunch @ Tongli (同里), a water village, 1.5 hours outside Shanghai.

Celtuce is a common vegetable to the Delta. The green taste and crunchiness of it makes it a perfect companion to fresh bamboo. Here, however, it was stir-fried in its own merits. The taste reminded me a lot of the stems of the kale cabbage.
