Claypot Teochew Mung Bean Noodles With Prawns (潮州鲜虾冬粉煲)
Dinner @ '云南大理潮州菜' at No.44 Renmin Lu, Old Dali City.
This is not Yunnan food. The food is from Teochew and the reason I am going for it is because I had fallen sick in Dali on my second day and my stomach could no longer entertain the oiliness and the spiciness. I had to opt for something light and not oily and Teochew's food reliance on freshness to bring out flavours fitted the bill.
Mung Bean noodles are not so easily digestible but I wanted something with prawns and hence opted for this as a side dish to accompany the hotpot. As flavours go, it was pretty spot on as the mung bean noodles had absorbed the sweetness of both the prawns and the Chinese Wombok cabbages. It was a pity I couldn't really finish the dish as I do not wish to overtax a fragile digestive system.
