Ilan Cow Tongue Biscuits (宜蘭牛舌餅/宜兰牛舌饼)

This is actually the specialty of the neighbouring city of Ilan, but one can find it everywhere in Suao.

Despite the frightening sounding name, no cows were harmed to make the biscuit. It just resembles a cow's tongue and hence the catchy name.

In mainland China, the version is much thicker and fuller. But in Taiwan, the biscuit has become flatter and thinner. It is thus crispier.

It has also taken on flavours - now available in a myriad of flavours from Milk, Egg, Coffee, Chocolate, Yam, Matcha etc etc.
