Fengqihu Train Biscuits (奮起湖火車餅/奋起湖火车饼)

Snacking in Fengqihu (奮起湖/奋起湖).

It is almost becoming formulaic that biscuits or pastries of some sort will pop up at any touristy spots in Taiwan, and Fengqihu is not exception.

Fengqihu is an important stop along the Alishan Mountain Railway Track, famous for both its food and scenaries. The stoppage of the Railway for upgrading has not affected the popularity of the town as folks either drive up or take tours from Alishan to visit the township.

The famous train biscuits of shop 142 - 天美珍餅舖 - come in 4 different types of fillings: 2 savoury ones - Red Bean Pork Floss (紅豆肉絲) & Green Bean Braised Meat (滷肉綠豆) and 2 sweet ones - Purple Dioscorea Yam (紫山藥) and High Mountain Green Tea (高山綠茶).

We bought a box containing all 4 fillings and enjoyed them on the train journey from Chiayi to Zhanghua.
