Iced Aiyu (Fig) Jelly (爱玉冰)

This is from the famous stall in the township of Fengqihu (奮起湖/奋起湖), midway down Alishan.

 

Here, Aiyu Jelly is combined with brown sugar shaved ice, basil seeds and plum blossom syrup to create a most tantalising and refreshing dessert. Sweet, flavourful and a tad tart, it was a welcome respite from the smouldering warm humidity.
