Toasted Mochi (烤麻糬)

Snacking at Sun Moon Lake (日月潭).

 

By this time, we are about half way through our journeys in Taiwan. I have seen my fair share of Mochi....and more!

 

This is another manifestation - Toasting the Mochi over charcoal fire.

The well toasted piece was then cut into smaller pieces and then served dusted with the seasoning of your choice. In this instance, my mate has opted for curry.

 

The chewy elastic texture is always the hallmark. The blandness of the glutinous rice cake needed the seasoning or it would have been too bland.
