Fried Egg With Preserved Radishes (菜脯蛋)

A closer look at individual dishes offered for dinner by the Hotel-Resort that I am staying with in Cingjing [清境].

 

This is one of my favourite dishes. Another simple combination - Rich creamy egg fried with salty fermented bits of preserved radishes. I just love it when I bite into these little pieces embedded in the egg, creating briney-brown-vegetal explosions of delights. Quite honestly, I would be happy and content enough just to have rice with this dish alone. One really does not need to travel to culinary Shangri-La just to have a taste of heaven - sometimes they are right here in plain sight.
