A Standard Taiwanese Meal

Dinner offered by the Hotel-Resort that I am staying with in Cingjing [清境].

 

This would be a typical Taiwanese meal - a perfect example of simple rustic Southern Chinese style cooking.

 

Steamed white rice is the staple, as in most parts of the Far East. In the set, a few dishes were offered to go with the carbo: Braised Minced Pork, Fried Egg with Preserved Radishes, Braised Gluten With Shiitake Mushroom, Stir-Fried Cabbage and a Hot Pot Soup With Day Lily Buds (金针).

 

Simple but tasty. Rustic but flavourful. Inherently satisfying.
