Cuttlefish Thick Soup (魷魚羹/鱿鱼羹)

It was blistering warm at above 30C at night but the locals are still going for hot soupy things....which I could not fathom.

Thick soups are basically brewed soups thickened with corn starch to deliver a slightly more gooey consistent texture. Taiwanese are big on texture, even when it comes to liquids.

The soup was nice, light and delicate and none of that big fishy pow-wow one would expect from a cuttlefish based soup. Went well with the flat rice noodles we ordered to go along with. It was a small bowl but with the world still smothering outside the small air-conned shop, it would do.
