This is an award winning shop.
It was along Taoyuan Street, bizarrely a street with multiple shops competing for business selling meat dumplings on one side and just one single shop on the other side, selling braised beef noodles.
Braised Beef Noodles is probably Taiwan's best 'export' into mainland China, although this shop claims its origin from Yantai in Shandong Province across in the Mainland, so technically it's an imported export?!?
The flavour did not deviate far from those I have tasted in Shanghai except the Taiwanese version has slightly clearer soups. Very rich, very umami and very brothy.
The cuts of beef as well as the strips of tendon were cooked to perfection. Tender and moist. Firm enough to be picked up and well disintegrated upon chewing.
And we were amazed at how close this shop is to the Presidential Palace!
The President could have easily hopped out of the back gate, slurp a bowl and slunk back to his desk with amazing ease!
