Magret Pato (Seared Duck Breast)
A MOST loving lunch in Porto at the water's edge and it almost never happened as my mate was dragging his feet on lunch, having consumed gleefully his fair share of sweet stuff for Brekkie. I am a savoury bloke and all the sweet concoctions were starting to make my stomach growl in rebellion for something savoury to repress it.
I refused to give in to his lethargy and pretence of fullness and allowed my own stomach to dictate my brain.
The slightly more upmarket restaurant (Trinc'arte) is next to a more (PS: very) bustling lunch eatery. To-&-fro I went on the where-to-eat decision spectrum but in the end I chose Trinc'arte because I wanted my lunch in peace. I went against the almost universal mantra that generally, a crowded place means good food, but for a 14 Euros risk, what a sumptious lunch it was!
The most tender and juicy seared duck breast I ever tasted, powered up with a bright zesty orange sauce (as bright as the Porto sun), served with flavourful artisanal potato chips (man!!), tender creamed spinach and fluffy tricoloured pilaf rice.
I dare say: This was THE lunch and THE meal of the trip.
SLURP!
