Chicken Blood Rice

Dinner @ Pedro dos Frangos, a famous Roast Chicken eatery in the city.

Sounds bloodthirsty but turned out pretty tasty! The colour is a tad morbid but I can tell you, the colour is no 'judge the book by its cover'. Very umami, and instead of expecting lots of offal parts, we were treated to a lovely spread of drumsticks and chunky moist thigh meat.

What a difference in cooking culture make! In Asia, the tasteless lumps of breast meat would be thrown into some horrid sounding mishmash and served cheaply. They usually end up in fast food offerings, loaded up with everything fatty and oily, just so to make them appear 'tasty'. In the West.....oh well, brings new meaning to the phrase "someone's garbage will be another person's treasure".
