This sweet/snack/dessert from Douro Litoral has a conventual origin. First created in the Monastery of Santa Clara, the over-the-top extreme sweetness and eccentric unique look certainly caught my tastebuds and eyes respectively.

 

Man, those monks probably suffered from acute diabetes. I took a mouthful and was dashing for water after. And it isn't easy to make me drink plain water I tell you.
