Savoury Tang Yuan [肉汤圆]

A day trip to Qi Bao Old Street [七宝老街] in Shanghai.

 

Savoury style glutinous rice balls (aka Tang Yuan) seems to be the rage of the area. I'm more used to the sweet kind where the fillings are sweetened red bean paste, sweetened black sesame paste etc but the locals were loving it and there were long queues waiting for their turn for mixed local vegetables and minced pork Tang Yuans.
