澎湖风茹草茶 (Glossogyne tenuifolia Tea)
Lunch @ "阿虹的店 (小门屿)".
Brought a bottle from the shop where I had a stop for lunch as I noticed tourists buying the bottles.
Glossogyne tenuifolia is a perennial herb native to Penghu, Taiwan. It was used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as an antipyretic (fever reduction), anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective (liver protecting) agent.
The dried herbs can be brewed into an brownish infusion (with some brown sugar added for sweetening) and consume both hot and cold (iced).
It has a light herbaceous taste that reminded me of Rooibos, honeysuckle and Chinese medicinal tea (aka Liang Cha) - not too offputting and quite refreshing especially when iced.
