Guinness Stout
A visit to "The Guinness Storehouse".
Tourist trail visit.
As Irish as it gets?
Guinness stout is made from water, barley, roast malt extract, hops, and brewer's yeast and it's flavour (malty, caramelic, sweet, brown and fruity) derives from a combination of malted barley and roasted unmalted barley. The draught beer's thick, creamy head comes from mixing the beer with nitrogen and carbon dioxide ala the Nitro Coffees of today. (Gosh, Guinness was way ahead of its time)
Despite being called the "Dark Liquid", the stout is actually Ruby-Red in colour, if one holds it against the light.
