Comforting Clams

"Saute Flower Clams / Cream Clams Broth / Sourdough Bread"

 

My table hasn’t intended to order this dish but the lady at the table saw the dish leaving the service counter and was seduced. “The sourdough looks tempting” she mused and her hubby sitting next to me and her friend (me) deferred to her wishes.

 

The umami that we had craved in the pasta dish was found in loads here. The clams were fresh - firm and tender but I did bite into sand from 2 of them. The only grouse we had was that the broth was a tad salty - although it would go well with the bread….or even a toss of pasta for say Spaghetti Vongole?
