Nagano Miso Ramen

Dinner @ "Mensho Sakura" in Matsumoto.

Matsumoto is part of Nagano Prefecture and the Prefecture is well known to produce soybeans. Naturally, miso is famous in this part of Japan.

Mate surprisingly had not heard much of this place but online reviews were plenty! Naturally, I was not going to leave Matsumoto without checking this place out!

I was immediately smittened - any ramen with minced pork - instant love! In fact, I think it was so flavourful and packed with saucy goodness that it outshone the slightly more lacklustre chashu in the bowl!

Unlike other ramen, the noodles here was closer in appearance and texture to the Singaporean Chinese style of yellow noodles but with a more pronounced customary kamsui taste.

Served in a thick and robust but not heavy miso broth along with fermented bamboo shoots - this was a satisfactorily hearty bowl to have before we end the day.
