Duck Ramen & Toro Taku Chirashi

Dinner @ "Ramen Kamo To Negi" in Tokyo.

 

The long queue of locals and tourists spoke for itself.

I placed an order in the vending machine without knowing what I was ordering aside that I was assured of a bowl of duck ramen and found to my laughable "horror", that I have ordered a side-dish - a bowl of raw tuna belly with scallions served on rice. (I just don't eat raw fish!) Challenge flopped....and I could only laugh it all.

 

Back to the ramen....purportedly prepared only using duck and water, the broth was intensely flavourful and soul-awakening but carrying none of the offnotes one may associate with duck. I love scallions - the more the merrier - and this bowl was one scallion lover's orgasmic dream!

 

The noodles were just right - enough bite to enjoy but wouldn't soften to a sloppy mess after a few minutes; all combined - a bowl was clean-tastingly hearty and moreishly delicious!
