Coco Espresso

Lunch @ "Earlybird Cafe".

 

"house-made hotcake that is served with coconut ice cream, coffee jelly, toasted coconut shavings and gula melaka (palm sugar)"

 

Unlike the fluffy thin pancakes....my table felt that the hotcake was a tad too thick and so the taste of it was pretty stodgy after a few mouthfuls, despite the Espresso, the coconut ice cream and even those strands of citrusy dill!

 

Not the most prettiest of dish with a palette of browns, it would have been more forgiving if the overall enjoyment had been greater.

 

My suggestion to the cafe: Half the thickness of the hotcake or switch to your pancakes instead.....I think this dessert dish would have sung with a much higher approval note.
