Dish 3: Bamboo White Asparagus Broken Egg

Dinner @ "RAW", Michelin Taipei 1 Star and Top 50 Restaurants Asia 2018 No.15.

 

It started promising with the bundle of bamboo leaves bumbling away in the couldron, releasing intoxicating aroma of bamboo leaves, which reminded me of the Dragon Boat Festival (aka Dumpling Festival) and the epinonimous steamed bamboo leaves wrapped glutinous rice dumpling.

 

But that creamy concoction that contained the broken egg, reminded me of thick Carbonara sauce. Like a handcuff, paired with the earthy white asparagus and bamboo shoots, the combo was screaming for a key to unlock and set me free but rescue never came.

 

I couldn't finish the dish and left half of it untouched.

 

The only dish I did not like for the evening.
