Chicken Laab Xong Kheuang

Lunch @ "Lao Kitchen", a popular and more "catered-to-tourist-taste-bud's" Laotian food restaurant in Vientiane.

The "national dish" of Laos, traditionally made with raw meat (and in fact, raw pork no less!), modernised to a cooked minced meat form, but still served with the traditional marination of freshly squeezed lime juice and fish sauce. The addition of the herbs and fried garlic added oomph, which made this dish rather moreish.

 

I always enjoyed Laab.
