Iekei Ramen
Another Yokohama Ramen specialty, made famous by the "Yoshimura-ya" chain. The name "Iekei" literally means "house-type" from the Kanji "家".
The soup is prepared with pork bones boiled over a long period of time, combined with soy sauce flavor (including chicken parts), and served with a generous portion of chicken oil floating on top for an unique style of ramen. The noodles used are generally thick and wavy noodles and the basic food ingredients consist of three pieces of dried seaweed, spinach, and Char-Siu (Chinese roasted pork slices).
I had to queue in line for almost 1 hour for a bowl at about 7.30pm in the day. And the queue never ends, even when I left the place. But in honesty, this Ramen lands one majestic punch for a first impression - nowhere had I had a mouthfull of broth so rich, so decadent AND floating with hints of grill and roast from the Char-Siu! I was in Ramen heaven! Timber me shivers! The taste is TO DIE FOR!!!
