Tokyo Banana

One of the iconic food souvenirs for Asian visitors to Japan - 'Tokyo Banana' ' is a Japanese confectionary, first went on sale in 1991.

 

The cream uses strained banana puree. After baking, the sponge cake is steamed to bring out a soft texture.

 

The flavour is not overpowering strong which bellies its popularity although the level of sweetness is pretty much up for argument. The softness of the encasing case added allure and attraction.

 

Colleagues visiting Japan for work almost never failed to bring back a box or 2 to everyone's delight.
