辣酱油/喼汁 ("Spicy Soysauce"/Worcestershire Sauce)

Lunch @ "鲜得来", a traditional culinary bastion in the city, famed for its fried pork ribs and rice cakes.

Inspired by "Worcestershire Sauce" no doubt as the area used to be part of the British Protectorate in Shanghai in the 1920s-1930s.

Made with water, sugar, spices, salt, onion, dried chillies, tomato sauce, yellow mustard, tangerine peel, [栀子] Gardenia Fruit, [玉竹] Polygonatum odoratum (aka Laksa leaf), food acids and caramel colour - this sauce is almost a more watery version of the famous British condiment.

It's popularly paired with fried foods.
