奶酪山药 (Cheese Battered Discorea)

Dinner @ "那家老院子".

 

An intriguing dessert.

The batter contains fresh cheese but once after deep-fried, the dairy character became muted. On the other hand, the batter was airy and nicely puffed.

 

Chinese yams or Discorea, aside for a slight sticky/gelantinous texture, had very little taste, and so the taste of the dish was delivered by the sugary glaze, which was lemon flavoured.
