Marzipan Red Velvet

A most lovely late lunch @ "Cafe Imperial", an institution in the City!

 

I am not big into cakes BUT this was one that I could see myself indulging in over and over again. Folks who hate almonds and its chemical compound Benzaldehyde will hate this, but hey, it just leave more for me!

 

The Red Velvet was moistened by a raspberry coulis so that the sponge was actually moist, bursting with juices and utterly delectable! The Marzipan fondant took it over the moon - sweet, sugary and packed full with the aroma and taste of Benzaldehyde, which I LOVE. My table agreed that this was the best cake of the trio we ordered.
