黄馍馍 ("Mo Mo" Corn Buns)

Lunch @ "西贝莜面村", a restaurant chain offering mainly Northwestern Chinese cuisine.

 

This is a staple specialty of Shaanxi province, made using grounded corn flour. There are 2 varieties - a version without filling, and a version with. The most common filling is a paste made from cooked red beans and red dates, with the red dates supplying the much needed sweetness.
