阳春二月面 (Yang Chun Dual Moons Noodles)
Dinner @ "大牌小厨", a restaurant offering mainly dishes from Shanghai and Nanjing.
I have never really had "Yang Chun" noodles, supposedly the simplest way to serve Chinese noodles in the most spartan form.
The savoury-umami braised broth was delicious and perfectly balanced with soya sauce and spices. The noodles were alright for the Chinese variant, nothing remarkable, but there were plenty of roasted peanuts to add texture and the 2 "moons", turned out to be a fried egg and a fried beancurd (tofu).
Not as spartan as I had imagined it to be and way more delicious than expected!
