Stroopwafels
The most famous Dutch dessert/snack known to the outside world.
A stroopwafel is a waffle made from two thin layers of baked dough with a caramel-like syrup filling in the middle. They were first made by bakers in Gouda in the Netherlands, using leftovers from the bakery, such as breadcrumbs, which were then sweetened with syrup.
The aroma is warm, sweet and homely. The texture chewy and soft. It is ardently irresistible!
