沙茶牛肉粿 (Shacha Sauce Beef Kway Teow)

Snacking @ "阿八弟牛肉丸", a rather famous local chain for beef balls.

"Kway Teow" is simply the "Tagliatelle" of rice noodles. Here, in Chaozhou, it is very common to serve them with "Shacha" sauce, which is a sauce made from fermented dried shrimp, fermented dried fish, peanuts, onion, garlic and spices. The sauce is both sweet, savoury and mildly pungent at the same time and works really well with the lightness in taste of the "Kway Teow".

In this shop, they have added a Tahini-like roasted sesame sauce as well, so the bowl of Kway Teow was decadently moreish and delightfully enjoyable!
